Cleaning up parks, beaches, riversides, and paths can make a real difference, but individual efforts can be difficult to track, measure, and recognize. Users need a simple way to record the waste they collect and see how their actions contribute to a cleaner environment.

Planet Matters was designed to make environmental cleanup more engaging by combining impact tracking with rewards and social participation. Users needed to be able to log their cleanup efforts, earn Planet Coins based on the waste they track, and see their contribution as part of a wider community effort.

The experience also needed to encourage continued participation through streaks, achievement ranks, global leaderboards, and cleanup teams. By adding real-world rewards and collaborative challenges, Planet Matters turns environmental cleanup into an activity users can participate in, track, and be rewarded for.

• Making cleanup efforts easy to verify. Users submit their cleanup information through the app, while the admin panel allows the team to review submissions and validate whether they qualify for rewards.
• Connecting real-world action with rewards. Once a cleanup submission is approved, administrators can award Planet Coins to the user, creating a clear connection between environmental effort and tangible rewards.
• Keeping users engaged beyond a single cleanup. Streaks, achievement ranks, global leaderboards, and challenges give users multiple ways to stay motivated and continue contributing.
• Making individual impact part of a community effort. Cleanup teams allow users to work together, track collective impact, set shared goals, and compete with other teams globally.
